7th GradeSeventh grade artists created a clay mug using the slab technique. They learned how to roll an even slab using slats and a rolling pin. They then cut the clay and attached it around a can to create a mug. For the final step, they added details so their mug would have a chosen theme.

Choice ArtI love providing opportunities for my classes to create art from their own inspiration and passion. That is what art is. Although I have a curriculum to teach, I like to provide time between projects for students to experiment and learn how to be an artist independently. Throughout the semester, I will be introducing students to "Design Process Thinking." This week, students in 6-8th grade got to have some time for their own artwork, but also had to plan what they were going to make and submit it to me in a Google Form.
